Unit Lens — Privacy Policy

Unit Lens ("the Extension") is a browser extension that detects measurements on the web pages you visit and rewrites them, in the page, into the units you prefer. This policy explains what data the Extension does and does not handle.

Summary

Unit Lens does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. All processing happens locally in your browser.

What the Extension accesses

• Web page content. To convert measurements, the Extension reads the text of pages you visit and replaces matching values (e.g. "5 miles") with your chosen unit. This reading and rewriting happens entirely on your device, in real time. Page content is never recorded, copied off your device, or sent anywhere.
• Your settings. Your chosen target units and on/off toggles are saved using Chrome's storage API. These preferences are stored by your browser. If you have Chrome Sync enabled, Chrome may sync them across your own signed-in devices through your Google account — this is handled by Chrome itself, not by the Extension, and the data is limited to your unit preferences.

What the Extension does NOT do

• It does not collect personally identifiable information.
• It does not track your browsing history or the pages you visit.
• It does not use cookies, analytics, or advertising trackers.
• It does not send any data to the developer or to third parties.
• It does not contain or load remote code.

Permissions

• Host access (all sites). Required so the Extension can find and convert measurements on whatever pages you choose to read. It runs locally on each page and keeps no record of them.
• Storage. Required only to remember your unit preferences between sessions.

Data retention & deletion

The only data stored is your preference settings, kept locally by your browser. You can erase it at any time by removing the Extension, or via Chrome's "Clear browsing data" controls. Uninstalling the Extension removes its stored settings.

Children's privacy

The Extension is a general-purpose utility and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised. The current version always applies to the published Extension.
